USAID Innovations in Gender Equality

Working in three regions of Tanzania - Morogoro, Mbeya, and Iringa - the USAID-funded Innovations in Gender Equality project focused on promoting women-friendly agricultural technologies, improving knowledge of issues critical to women's empowerment, building policies that promote gender awareness, and building lasting impact through the establishment of the Centre for the Advancement of Women in Agriculture in Tanzania (CAWAT). IGE issued calls for agricultural innovations that were designed to reduce women's labor and enhance productivity. The project reached 1 million households through radio broadcasts, awarded 41 grants to pilot and scale up innovations, and had 2,500 participants trained in gender sensitization.
