Through USAID, the African Medical Research and Education Foundation (AMREF), Land O'Lakes Venture37, and Catholic Relief Services, the livelihoods were improved for poor and under-served populations in the Northern Arid Lands of Kenya. IMARISHA is a Swahili word that means"to improve" or "to make better." The program encouraged communities to diversify and strengthen their livestock-focused livelihoods through income generating activities. Key activities included trainings for men and women on rangeland management, quality improvement, enterprise development, integrating nutrition across the agricultural value chains, organizational development and household economic strengthening.
